Zipping through Beantown

August 4, 2014

Operation Boston in One Day was a success!  We even met up with Beckys cousin Margaret who accompanied us on most of the Freedom Trail.  It was great to meet her, and I can tell that she and Becky loved the opportunity to catch up after many years.  I would really like to see more of Boston someday, but we saw all of the Freedom Trail including places like Boston Common, the site of the Boston Massacre, the old North Church, several cool graveyards, Paul Reveres house and the monument of the Battle of Bunker Hill which is appropriately located on Breeds Hill.  I will say that walking up the 294 steps in a tight winding staircase to the top of the Bunker Hill monument after walking the rest of the Freedom Trail is a little tiring, but it was a great view from the top.  We had lunch at Quincy Market located behind Faneuil Hall and dinner at an awesome Italian restaurant in the North End.  It was a lot of walking and fun day.  Well have to come back another time and see more of the area like Concord, Lexington and Salem, but it was a good start.
