Ok, so we didn't make it very far today. But in our defense, that was the plan. We left this morning around 9:30, and we drove less than two hours to a summer camp run by San Juan School District. Jim, a friend and fellow teacher who retired a few years ago, has continued to run a computer / iMovie class at Camp Winthers for a couple of weeks every summer. He is ready to retire from that now as well, and he asked me if I was interested in taking over next summer. Always looking for ways to bring in a little extra summer income, I agreed. Jim and I arranged it so that I would come up to camp to learn the ropes today, and I dragged the family along since it got us two hours closer to where we're heading anyway. I worked with Jim today, and Becky and the kids got to hang out in the mountains. They were able to swim in the lake and hike around a bit, but I think they got a little bored too. They are good sports though.
Anyway, we did get to go on a really cool night hike this evening. Above is the view of the sunset as we got to the peak. Just an FYI, you can always click on any of the pictures to see them larger. You might occasionally find a surprise. Tonight we're sleeping in a rustic camp cabin. Not the most exciting day, but hey, tomorrow we're driving for ten hours. Pick your poison.
Hey, every member of the Hedrick Family are good sports, heehee!
